Hospital nurses schedule strike

The 1,650 nurses at Washington Hospital Center have scheduled a “one-day walkout” for March 4.

The nurses threatened the strike before entering negotiations with hospital officials late last week. But there was “insufficient progress” toward resolving their concerns and they’re moving forward with the strike, a statement said.

The nurses threatened to strike the day before Thanksgiving, but backed down when hospital officials returned to the negotiating table. The nurses say the hospital is understaffed, and they’re overworked and underpaid.
