Tim Kaine has hired a transition director to prepare him for the vice presidency should his running mate, Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton, win the White House in November.
The Virginia senator has brought on his former chief of staff, Wayne Turnage, as transition director, according to the Associated Press.
Kaine said on Saturday that he hired Turnage because “the prospect of winning is such that we better start doing some thinking about practicalities.”
Clinton is leading Republican nominee Donald Trump by 5 points nationally in the RealClearPolitics average of polls. A recent Reuters/Ipsos State of the National project found that Clinton would likely win 326 votes in the Electoral College.
