Trump responds to Istanbul bombings: ‘Terrorist threat has never been greater’

Presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump said Tuesday following the Istanbul bombings the U.S. and world have never faced this level of danger from terrorists.

“The terrorist threat has never been greater. Our enemies are brutal and ruthless and will do anything to murder those who do not bend to their will. We must take steps now to protect America from terrorists, and do everything in our power to improve our security to keep America safe,” Trump said in a statement.

The billionaire businessman said the explosions, which Istanbul officials believe to have been carried out by the Islamic State, left the world “stunned and horrified.”

Trump has criticized President Obama for his refusal to use the phrase “radical Islamic terrorism.” The GOP presidential candidate has also called for a temporary ban of all Muslim refugees from what he describes as terrorist countries until a better process for dealing with this kind of terrorism can be determined.
