Rapper and presidential hopeful Kanye West is reportedly trying to develop an ally in President Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner ahead of November.
The meeting, which took place in Colorado, was held earlier in August and included Kushner’s wife, Ivanka Trump, as well as a top White House adviser, according to the New York Times.
West was camping in Colorado with his family and reportedly met Kushner and Ivanka Trump on his own after his trip.
After the New York Times reached out to West, the entertainer tweeted he was willing to do a live interview with the paper about his meeting with Kushner, where they discussed a book called Powernomics: The National Plan to Empower Black America by Claude Anderson.

The report noted that West didn’t give details about his meeting in a follow-up interview and instead talked about abortion rates among black women and his opposition to Democrats.
Other reports say Kushner, who also serves as a White House senior adviser, has been in regular contact with West since he declared he was running for president on July 4.
Since announcing, West has filed petitions to get on ballots come November in several states, despite missing filing deadlines for several critical ones.
In a July 7 interview with Forbes, West said the first person he would consult about whether he would really run for president was Kushner.
Forbes editor Randall Lane, who conducted the interview, said West was telling him about a conversation he once had with Kushner, where he said the country doesn’t have any black leaders but only black hustlers because all the leaders had been killed.
When Forbes reached out to fact-check the claim, West pushed back, asking to have Kushner’s comment removed.
“I love Jared,” West said. “I was just … that’s my boy, you know? That’s really my boy. So I prefer to not drop his name.”
Some anonymous West confidants who spoke to Forbes expressed concern over Kushner’s possible intentions conversing with West, given their belief that he isn’t mentally well.
“Jared, why are you meeting with him?” asked one source. “Tell him, ‘Hey, man, I saw you’re running for president — let’s talk when the election’s over.’”
The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
