Prince George’s County police are investigating one of its officers shooting a teenager who police said tried to run over the policeman.
At about 4:30 p.m. Friday, Police Officer Andrew Nacin was conducting a stolen vehicle investigation in Clinton and got out of his marked police cruiser and began approaching the vehicle, police said. The suspect suddenly put the vehicle in reverse and tried to hit Nacin, police said. Nacin fired his service weapon and struck the suspect in the arm.
Terrance Lloyd Nelson Jr., 19, was taken to the hospital and treated. He was charged with first- and second-degree assault, felony theft and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
Nacin, an 18-year veteran, was placed on administrative leave while the incident is investigated, as per department policy.
