Most see 2017 as a low point in US history

Most people believe 2017 marks a low point in U.S. history, and almost two-thirds of people polled are stressed about the future of the country.

While people weren’t specifically polled about President Trump, the results could be a sign that the new president is stressing people out.

According to the poll by the American Psychological Association, 59 percent of people surveyed said 2017 is the lowest point in U.S. history.

Another 63 percent said they feel stressed about the future of the nation. When broken down by party identification, 73 percent of Democrats said they find the nation’s future as a source of stress, compared to 56 percent of Republicans.

Sixty percent of those asked said social divisiveness in the country today is stressful to them.

According to the poll, 43 percent of the participants identified healthcare as a leading issue causing stress, followed by 35 percent who said they were stressed about the economy.

The poll surveyed 3,440 participants and was conducted from Aug. 2 to Aug. 31.
