Republicans think Democrats have a sexual harassment issue, but the GOP doesn’t: Poll

A new poll finds Republicans overwhelmingly believe sexual harassment within the Democratic Party is a serious issue, but most don’t say the same thing about their own party.

The recent HuffPost/YouGov survey found 76 percent of Republicans believe there is a very or somewhat serious problem of sexual harassment within the Democratic Party, with only 12 percent saying sexual harassment isn’t that serious of an issue for Democrats.

However, just 40 percent of Republicans polled believe sexual harassment is a very or somewhat serious problem for their own party, and 43 percent believe it’s not very or not at all serious.

The poll, which was conducted from Nov. 16-17, found Democrats are more united when it comes to recognizing an issue within both parties.

Sixty percent of Democrats said sexual harassment is a somewhat or very serious issue for their own party, and only 18 percent said that it’s not very or not at all serious. Twenty-two percent responded that they were unsure.

Seventy-five percent of Democrats polled believed sexual harassment is a serious issue for the Republican Party, while only 7 percent said they believed it is not a serious issue for the GOP.

The poll comes in the wake of both parties facing serious sexual misconduct allegations against some of their top leaders, such as Alabama GOP Senate candidate Roy Moore and Democratic Sen. Al Franken.

HuffPost/YouGov completed 1,000 interviews and included a model-based margin of error.
