News Reporting Internship

Gain valued work experience working as an (unpaid) intern at a print/online

news publication headquartered in downtown Washington, DC. This is a

hands-on, real-time reporting experience in one of the world’s most exciting

news markets.

Your responsibilities would include (but are not limited to):

* Pitching story ideas (daily and enterprise) to editors

* Reporting and writing news stories on deadline

* Selecting and interviewing subjects for our 3-Minute Interview feature

* Interviewing subjects for our “Personal Best” feature

* Reporting/writing news briefs

Qualifications:

* Currently enrolled in (or recent graduate of) an accredited

college/university

* Prior news reporting/writing experience (internships at professional

publications preferred; student publications only may be acceptable)

* Excellent editing and writing skills

Also required:

* Possess excellent communication skills

* Be motivated, ambitious and coachable

* Have the ability to work independently and on teams

* Be available to work at least four full days per week during the summer or

at least full three days per week during spring/fall semesters.
