Michelle Wolf, the comedian whose racy performance at the White House Correspondents’ dinner last month drew condemnation from figures of the Right and Left, isn’t done going after White House press secretary Sarah Sanders.
In her new Netflix show, “The Break with Michelle Wolf,” the entertainer said her pointed jokes about Sanders, likening her to the female version of Uncle Tom in the famous novel about slavery or to a character in the show “The Handmaid’s Tale,” were not about her looks but her “ugly personality.”
“For the record, that was not a looks-based joke. That was about her ugly personality,” Wolf said. That personality, according to Wolf, was rooted in Sanders’ failure to support female empowerment initiatives mainly because of her affiliation with the Trump administration.
Wolf sarcastically referred to a tweet her “best friend” Sanders had issued earlier in the month as an example of the spokeswoman’s hypocrisy on the issue.
“There is no one more qualified to be the first woman to lead the CIA than 30+ year CIA veteran Gina Haspel. Any Democrat who claims to support women’s empowerment and our national security but opposes her nomination is a total hypocrite,” Sanders wrote May 5 during Haspel’s confirmation hearings.

“Well if anyone’s an expert on hypocrites, it’s Sarah Huckabee Sanders,” Wolf said.
Wolf’s routine at the dinner was panned by President Trump as “filthy” and was even denounced by the White House Correspondents’ Association.
Conservatives, and others across the political aisle, especially defended Sanders, who stayed through the entirety of the dinner despite the personal barbs.
