On the heels of an Associated Press report over the weekend that the State Department’s unclassified email system was taken offline due to a suspected hacking attack, the main State.gov website is down Monday morning. Multiple attempts to access the site have failed, and the site www.downforeveryoneorjustme.com returns the message, “It’s not just you! http://state.gov looks down from here.”

Earlier Monday morning, the domain used for U.S. embassy sites, usembassy.gov, was down as well, but has since been restored.
