Two generals have been relieved of their duties in separate incidents, according to multiple reports late Friday. Army National Guard Brig. Gen. Michael Bobeck, who serves on the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and Maj. Gen. Wayne Grigsby, commander of the 1st Infantry Division in Fort Riley Kansas, were both dealt dismissals in recent days.

Bobeck was accused of having an extramarital affair, a violation of military law. He was removed from the Joint Chiefs while the investigation into the allegations continues.

Officials did not say why Grigsby was relieved of his duties. “He is currently the subject of an official investigation and we cannot comment further at this time,” the statement said.

Both men had served in Iraq, while Grigsby had also served on the Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa, which focuses on targeting al Qaeda and al Shabab in the region.
