Linda McMahon easily confirmed to lead Trump’s Small Business Administration

Linda McMahon, the former top executive of World Wrestling Entertainment, was easily confirmed Tuesday in a bipartisan vote as President Trump’s leader of the Small Business Administration.

The Senate voted 81-19 to confirm her Tuesday morning. Her confirmation followed an 18-1 vote on the nomination in January, and other signs from Democrats that they supported McMahon in the post and would not seek to delay a vote.

That included two Senate Democrats who defeated her in two consecutive Senate races in Connecticut: Sens. Richard Blumenthal, and Chris Murphy.

Both Democrats praised her during her confirmation at the Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship, along with many others on the committee. Only Sen. Cory Booker, D-N.J., voted against her in committee.

Trump noted her success in growing a small business into a global powerhouse when he announced his intent to nominate her in December.

“Linda has a tremendous background and is widely recognized as one of the country’s top female executives advising businesses around the globe,” Trump said then.

“She helped grow WWE from a modest 13-person operation to a publicly traded global enterprise with more than 800 employees in offices worldwide,” Trump added. “Linda is going to be a phenomenal leader and champion for small businesses and unleash America’s entrepreneurial spirit all across the country.”
