When teenage climate change activist Greta Thunberg tweeted a photo of herself sitting on the floor while complaining about overcrowded trains in Europe, it brought to mind a similar action taken by British politician Jeremy Corbyn.
In a 2017 saga dubbed “traingate,” a video surfaced of Corbyn sitting on the floor of a train while campaigning against the privatization of the railway industry in Britain. Corbyn said the train was “ram-packed.” Footage was later released showing Corbyn walking past empty seats.
“Traveling on overcrowded trains through Germany,” Thunberg, 16, said over the weekend.

The German train company Deutsche Bahn hit back at Thunberg, pointing out she was traveling in first class for much of her journey.
Corbyn’s Labour Party last week lost to Boris Johnson’s Conservatives in a landslide in the British general election, his party’s worst defeat since 1987.
