Amazon employees are calling a children’s book that pushes back against woke culture’s attack on gender “problematic.”
The book, Johnny the Walrus, written by Daily Wire host Matt Walsh, has soared to the top spot on Amazon’s bestselling book list.
Johnny the Walrus was released in November 2021 and is on its fourth round of printing, with a quarter of a million copies in print, according to a press release.
We did it. Amazon is actively trying to suppress my children’s book but in spite of that Johnny The Walrus is now the number one best selling book on all of Amazon. This is causing unimaginable trauma to Amazon’s woke employees and I couldn’t be happier. Thank you, everyone! pic.twitter.com/G9g1BwCDLq

Walsh said the book’s success is “causing unimaginable trauma to Amazon’s woke employees, and I couldn’t be happier.”
He shared a leaked video on YouTube showing Amazon employees expressing concern that the site’s algorithms failed to halt sales of the book. That video has since been taken down.
Walsh appeared on Tucker Carlson Tonight, where a clip of the video was played.
“Johnny the Walrus is a bit of a problematic book,” an employee is heard saying. “It is not a bit of a problem — it’s one hell of a problem.”
Another employee added, “Matt Walsh and his publishing company and other people like him are taking advantage of Amazon and how Amazon algorithms work to promote their particular brand of hate and harm on the community.”

Walsh shared with Carlson that Amazon is marginalizing his lived experience.
“The book is about true self-acceptance, OK,” Walsh said. “It’s about a boy who identifies as a walrus, and his mother goes along with it, but then they both learn at the end that you should accept yourself for who you truly are — who you biologically are.”
“When I was a kid, that was the most common message in books that we read,” Walsh added. “It is just now, on the Left, what they force on kids is a false self-acceptance of actually rejecting who you really are in favor of a delusion. So, that is what they are upset about at Amazon.”

In contrast, Walsh noted that one of the other bestselling children’s books on Amazon touts chemical castration and sterilization for children ages 9-12.
“That’s the kind of book they are OK with, but not my book, Johnny the Walrus, which is just a tale of a boy who identifies as a walrus,” Walsh told Carlson. “No, they want your 9-year-old to read a book that encourages himself to sterilize and castrate himself.”
