Trump speaks to Egyptian president after terrorist attacks at Christian churches

President Trump spoke to Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah el-Sissi on Sunday after dozens were killed in Egypt after bombings at a pair of Christian churches on Palm Sunday.

The White House said Trump spoke with the Egyptian president “to convey his deepest condolences to Egypt and to the families who lost loved ones in the heinous terrorist attacks against Christian churches on Palm Sunday.”

“President Trump condemned the attacks that killed and injured dozens of Egyptians,” the White House said. “The president also expressed his confidence in President Al Sisi’s commitment to protect Christians and all Egyptians.”

At least 45 people died Sunday after explosions at two churches. The Islamic State has claimed responsibility.

Just last week, Trump welcomed el-Sissi to the White House and vowed to help him fight terrorism.
