Fairfax County police are searching for a 24-year-old Kingstowne man wanted in connection with the homicide of a 21-month-old boy his wife was baby-sitting on Tuesday.
An arrest warrant for murder has been issued for Mohammad Ahmad, 24, of 6423 Silver Ridge Circle, following the death of Myles Simon, of 6359 Battlement Way in Alexandria, according to the Fairfax County Police Department.
The child and three others were at the Silver Ridge Circle residence when Ahmad’s 21-year-old wife left him with them for 40 minutes while she ran errands, said department spokeswoman Mary Mulrenan.
“When she returned, [Simon] was clearly unresponsive, and she called 911,” Mulrenan said. After discovering the boy at about 11 a.m., rescue crews took him to Springfield Healthplex, where he was pronounced dead.
By that point, Ahmad allegedly had fled the residence, according to Mulrenan.
An autopsy found the child died of blunt force trauma to the head, consistent with homicide, according to the department.
Ahmad is described as white, about 5 feet 10 inches tall and 185 pounds, with wavy black hair, brown eyes and a goatee. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Solvers at 866-411-TIPS.
