Lady Gaga’s dogwalker shooting suspect mistakenly released from jail

A man accused of shooting Lady Gaga’s dogwalker last year in Hollywood was accidentally released from jail on Wednesday.

James Jackson, 19, one of several suspects in the shooting of dogwalker Ryan Fischer, was released from jail due to a “clerical error” and is still on the loose as of Friday, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department confirmed to CBS.

Jackson was released after the initial charges filed against him were dismissed by a judge on Tuesday, though officials were in the process of filing new ones, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office told the outlet.

LADY GAGA OFFERING $500,000 REWARD FOR RETURN OF TWO DOGS STOLEN DURING SHOOTING

“Mr. Jackson was arraigned on a superseding indictment filed in court under a new case number,” the office wrote in a statement. “The old case was then dismissed by a judge as required by law.”

Authorities are in the process of tracking Jackson down.

On Feb. 24, 2021, Fischer was shot while trying to fight off thieves who stole Gustave and Koji, two of the singer’s three French bulldogs.

The incident sparked national attention, and the pop singer called for the safe return of her dogs, offering a $500,000 reward. The dogs were later returned unharmed, and Fischer recovered.

Five people in total were arrested in the case. Jackson was charged with attempted murder in relation to the shooting.
