The crowdfunded series is created, co-written, and directed by Dallas Jenkins and distributed by Angel Studios.
“We’re seeing that the same audiences who have helped us break streaming records can have similar impact at the box office,” Angel Studio CEO Neal Harmon said in a statement to the Washington Examiner.
The streaming series bucked Hollywood trends when it raised upward of $10.2 million with more than 16,000 investors through crowdfunding in 2018 to fund the production of the original season. The Chosen Season Two was fully crowdfunded by 2020.
