Scoop: Katie insists she’s in control, not Tom

Katie Holmes wants the world to know that she’s not the helpless waif the media makes her out to be. Despite the public perception that hubby Tom Cruise has somehow taken control of her life, the newly minted Broadway star insists she’s her own woman.

“There’s a misperception about me that I just became this wallflower, this woman who doesn’t have any control of her life,” Katie tells The New York Times.  “And that’s pretty wrong. From the very beginning, I’ve made choices in my life that have been very strong.”

The mother of Suri, 2, and star of the play “All My Sons” says she simply ignores all the scuttlebutt about her and her marriage. “I have too much to do,” Katie asserts. “I’m a mom and an actress with a play to do every night. I can’t pay attention to all that noise.”

And it’s especially easy to tune it out when Tom keeps you locked up in a soundproof room — oh, we’re kidding, Katie, we’re kidding!

Sienna: Tearful Dinner

Sienna Miller’s rep recently insisted that she and beau Balthazar Getty are going strong. But maybe the strain of being labeled as a homewrecker is taking its toll on Sienna’s romance. (In case you hadn’t heard, he was married — with four kids — when they hooked up.) A tabloid report claims a recent date ended in tears.

Thursday night at L.A.’s Italian eatery Il Sole, the controversial couple settled in for what “started out looking like a romantic dinner,” a gawker relays to OK! At first they “giggled and spoke very closely” during their meal.

But something apparently went wrong, as Sienna became “visibly upset and [was] seen wiping away tears.”

The “Factory Girl” star reportedly had tears in her eyes as she left the restaurant, with the “Brothers and Sisters” actor following behind.

Anyone care to place a wager on how long these two will last?

Shia: Career Stalling?

Shia LaBeouf’s career might be jeopardized by the aftermath of his July car crash. The accident, which led to a DUI bust, also resulted in a hand injury for which the “Indiana Jones” star required surgery. And because he’s still wearing a hand brace, the New York Daily News reports, he had to drop out of the upcoming film “Dark Fields.”

The hand injury was written into “Transformers 2” — that shouldn’t have been too hard — so Shia was able to complete shooting that movie. But, the paper explains, the writers of “Dark Fields” weren’t able to work it into the plot, so the actor had to drop out. Evidently, that movie was the only one he had in the works.

And the brace may not be going away anytime soon. Shia’s left hand “is totally shattered,” an E! source confides. “It’s much worse than anyone thought.”

Look for Shia’s next role to be as a baker who wears oven mitts throughout the film.

Gwyneth: Mommy Time

Oscar winner Gwyneth Paltrow says being a mother is now her most important role in life.

“I haven’t starred in a film since my kids were born, and I don’t think I will,” the mom of daughter Apple, 4, and son Moses, 2, declares to Gotham magazine. “I’ll never get these days back — they’re so delicious, and precious, and hilarious, I don’t want to miss them.” (Wait, didn’t she just go on a tour of Spain with Mario Batali?)

So, since parenting is now her full-time job, will Gwyneth have a third child?

“In theory, I’d love to,” the actress confesses. “But it’s really hard for me when I’m pregnant — I’m sick as a dog for months. Sometimes I think, ‘Oh, my God, I want another one right now, I’ll sustain any amount of vomiting or whatever.’ And then sometimes I think, ‘Gosh, everyone’s sleeping through the night now.’ If it’s meant to happen, it’ll happen.”

Of course, spending some time with your husband might help. Just sayin’.
