Mark Meadows says he’d be willing to bet all his money Trump will run again

Mark Meadows said Thursday he would be willing to bet all of his money that his old boss, former President Donald Trump, is going to run for office again.

“Literally, I was with him just two days ago and he said, ‘Mark, I can’t imagine it could’ve gotten this bad this quickly,'” the former White House chief of staff said during an interview with Andrew Wilkow on SiriusXM’s Wilkow Majority.

Knocking the Biden administration, Meadows said Trump can see that decisions have to be made regarding “supply chain inflation, let alone the Afghanistan problem.”

“If I were a betting man, Andrew, I would tell you to loan me all your money. I would put all my money in, and I would bet that he’s running again. He’s in, and we will count on him running,” Meadows said.

The former president has hinted at running for office again in 2024, though he has not formally announced a run.

During an interview with Yahoo Finance, Trump said if he faced Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, a rising star in the party, he’d “beat him.”

Since leaving office, Trump has issued a variety of statements endorsing candidates including Herschel Walker, a former NFL player running for U.S. Senate in Georgia, Sean Parnell, an Army combat veteran running for U.S. Senate in Pennsylvania, and Sarah Huckabee Sanders, Trump’s former press secretary who is running for governor in Arkansas.

Meadows, who is a former congressman, was subpoenaed by the House committee investigating the Jan. 6 Capitol riot. Meadows has retained a lawyer during the investigation.

Other advisers to Trump who have been subpoenaed by the committee include Steve Bannon, Kash Patel, and Dan Scavino. The House voted to hold Bannon in criminal contempt of Congress for defying the subpoena.
