Jeweler breaks Guinness World Record with over 24,000 diamonds in one ring

A diamond retailer in India proved to be a shining example of craftsmanship, breaking the record for most diamonds in one ring.

SWA Diamonds broke the title for having the most diamonds, 24,679 diamonds in total, set in one ring in Karathode, India, on May 5. The jeweler created the ring to break the record and bring attention to the brand, Guinness World Records said Thursday.

“There is no greater joy than to live your dreams the way you were meant to,” said Abdul Gafur Anadiyan, SWA Diamonds’ managing director. “Our team feel accomplished and satisfied after knowing we have earned a new Guinness World Records title.”

The design team based its look on the pink oyster mushroom, or the Pleurotus djamor. A prototype of the ring was created using a plastic mold and then recreated digitally, a process that took almost three months to complete.

After 3D-printing the design, liquid gold was poured into the mold, cooled, and filed into the shape of the 41 unique mushroom petals, with each natural diamond placed by hand on each side of the mushroom petals.

The ring is named “Ami,” which stands for immortality in the Sanskrit language.

Ami weighs 340 grams and has a value of £79,967, equal to $95,243, according to SWA Diamonds. The 24,679-diamond ring beats the 2020 record set by Harshit Bansal, who created a ring containing 12,638 diamonds.
