Trump attacks ‘Democrat excuse for losing election, Russia, Russia, Russia’ during return from Thanksgiving break

President Trump had Russia on his mind as he headed back to Washington from his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida after Thanksgiving break.

“Since the first day I took office, all you hear is the phony Democrat excuse for losing the election, Russia, Russia, Russia. Despite this I have the economy booming and have possibly done more than any 10 month President. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!” Trump tweeted upon boarding Air Force One.

Special Counsel Robert Mueller is investigating Russia’s interference in the 2016 presidential election, and whether the Trump campaign conspired with Moscow.

The tweet comes days after a report indicating former Trump national security adviser Mike Flynn’s attorney told Trump’s legal team that he could no longer discuss Mueller’s investigation with them. That was seen as an indication that Flynn was getting closer to cooperating with Mueller’s investigation and speculation was rife that Flynn’s defection to Mueller’s camp could mean trouble for the White House.

Trump has repeatedly called the investigation a “hoax“ exaggerated by his political opponents.

Multiple congressional investigations are taking place into Russia’s involvement in the 2016 election as well.

Trump’s claim that he’s possibly done more in his first 10 months as president would appear to be dubious to many historians.

During President Harry Truman’s first 10 months in office, he negotiated the post World War II-era at the Potsdam conference, authorized the dropping of two atomic bombs on Japan, and accepted the Japanese unconditional surrender ending WWII.

In President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s first months in office, he began passing a series of reforms known as the New Deal, which established many government programs that eventually helped pull the country out of the Great Depression.

The nation’s first president, George Washington, helped create and establish many still-continued norms for American government and created many long-lasting government structures during his first months in office.

During his first 10 months in office, Trump has failed to pass any of his major legislative priorities — such as repealing the Affordable Care Act, signing tax reform into law, or making any movement on a promised $1 trillion infrastructure package — and his most significant achievement was the nomination of Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch to the high court.

Many other actions taken by the administration have been regulatory in nature, such as taking the U.S. out of the Trans-Pacific Partnership and the Paris Agreement on climate change or repealing Obama-era regulations.
