Rep. Dan Crenshaw praised President Trump’s decision to de-escalate tensions with Iran following the president’s address to the nation Wednesday.
“Judging from Iran’s statement ‘not seeking escalation ‘ & Trump’s tactical patience after last night’s inconsequential missile attacks, it appears that a strategy of peace through strength is working,” Crenshaw tweeted. “Doesn’t mean the road ahead is easy, but US leverage is vastly improved.”

During his remarks at the White House, Trump did not announce another attack on Iran after Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps launched missiles at a pair of U.S. air bases in Iraq. Iran said the strike was in retaliation for the killing of top Gen. Qassem Soleimani.
Soleimani was an officially-designated terrorist, and the Pentagon has said he was responsible for the deaths of hundreds of U.S. troops.
Iran has threatened to attack other American allies in the Middle East if the United States uses military force in response to Tuesday’s strike.
“For far too long, all the way back to 1979, to be exact, nations have tolerated Iran’s destructive and destabilizing behavior in the Middle East and beyond,” Trump said during his televised address. “Those days are over.”
Crenshaw, a U.S. Navy SEAL and Republican from Texas, has called for unity behind the president and has blasted congressional Democrats for not doing so.
“Needless provocation” – shocking phrase to use, & to be expected from Iran, Russia or China – but from the Speaker?
Dems must stop ignoring Iran’s history of escalation in violence against the US.
Support your country even when you aren’t in charge. Sad that needs to be said. https://t.co/rRPdpCB6Aq
