Two civil rights groups looking to pressure moderate Republicans to oppose the nomination of Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court, have taken out full page ads in multiple major newspapers, according to a report Friday.
The Human Rights Campaign and the National Women’s Law Center are taking out ads in Alaska, Colorado, Maine, and Nevada, HuffPost reports.
According to the outlet, the campaign warns of the threat President Trump’s court poses to LGBTQ rights, legal abortions, and affordable healthcare.

The ads specifically call out moderate Republican Sens. Lisa Murkowski, Susan Collins, Cory Gardner, and Dean Heller, each of whom represents a state where the groups have purchased advertisements. In the ads, each senator is either praised for their voting history, or called upon to protect current laws.
The campaign cost the groups around $75,000, a Human Rights Campaign staffer told HuffPost.
In early July, President Trump nominated federal appeals court judge Brett Kavanaugh to the U.S. Supreme Court.
Kavanaugh is poised to fill retiring Justice Anthony Kennedy’s seat. If confirmed by the Senate, the Supreme Court’s ideological tilt would shift to the Right.
