Joe Biden and wife Jill scheduled to appear on Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve

President-elect Joe Biden and wife Jill are in for a “rockin'” New Year’s Eve. The couple has agreed to partake in Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest on Thursday night.

Host Seacrest expressed excitement about the announcement on Wednesday, saying the appearance will mark Biden’s last interview of 2020.

“Closing out 2020 with President-elect @JoeBiden and future First Lady @DrBiden for their last interview of the year,” Seacrest tweeted. “Tune-in to @NYRE tomorrow at 8/7c on @ABCNetwork! #RockinEve.”

Network officials celebrated the appearance in a statement obtained by Entertainment Tonight.

“In a year marked with many challenges, we are honored that President-Elect Joe Biden and Dr. Biden will join America’s most-watched tradition — Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve — to share an inspiring message as we come together to close out 2020 and look ahead with hope to 2021,” Amy Thurlow, president of Dick Clark Productions, and Craig Erwich, president of Hulu Originals and ABC Entertainment, said in the joint statement.

Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve has been a holiday staple since the eponymous Dick Clark hosted the first celebratory special in 1971. This year, it will be closed to the public due to the social distancing restrictions mandated by the coronavirus pandemic.

Seacrest said he hopes that the New Year’s show, which will be headlined by Jennifer Lopez and is slated to include performances by Jimmie Allen, Miley Cyrus, Cyndi Lauper, and Porter, will bring joy to close out what has been a difficult year for many.

“We look forward to making sure it’s a night for everyone to remember,” he said.
