EPA provides $3.4 million for Chesapeake Bay projects

The Environmental Protection Agency will provide $3.4 million to help fund Chesapeake Bay cleanup efforts, the agency announced Thursday.

The funds, provided through the EPA’s Chesapeake Bay Program, will be used for 34 projects in the six states throughout the Bay watershed and the District of Columbia.

Projects involve everything from local stream restoration and conservation efforts at farms, schools and urban areas to social media campaigns designed to raise awareness about Chesapeake Bay efforts.

“Local action is essential to restoring clean water to the region’s streams, creeks, rivers and the Chesapeake Bay,” said EPA Regional Administrator Shawn Garvin.
