Klobuchar had MSNBC’s Chuck Todd as a landlord

Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Amy Klobuchar was the one-time tenant of MSNBC anchor Chuck Todd about a decade ago.

Klobuchar, who was elected to the Senate for the first time in 2006, rented a home in Arlington, Virginia, which she no longer lives in, according to a member of the senator’s staff. The home was owned by Todd, the New York Post reported Thursday evening.

A member of Klobuchar’s senate office revealed to the Washington Examiner that Klobuchar and her husband “rented the house in Arlington” for their “first few years in Washington,” in reference to the Post’s report. Klobuchar and her husband, lawyer John Bessler, have since moved into an apartment in Washington, D.C., and haven’t resided in the Todd-owned property for years.

The senator from Minnesota participated in Wednesday’s ninth presidential debate, which was hosted by MSNBC and NBC News. Todd was one of the four moderators and Klobuchar one of the six candidates who qualified to participate. Todd also moderated the first presidential debate of this election cycle, in June, where she was one of 20 candidates to participate in the two-night event.

The candidate, moderator, and MSNBC did not disclose this aspect of their past relationship prior to either debate.
