Businesses win venture awards

MTECH Ventures, an initiative of the A. James Clark School of Engineering, announced the winners of the 2007 University of Maryland Business Plan Competition.

Giving out $50,000 to several different businesses, MTECH chose three winners among nine finalists, with all nine receiving prizes. Businesses were divided into three categories: Faculty and Graduate Student Division, Young Alumni Division and Undergraduate Division. Finalists were selected from 18 semifinalists and about 60 initial entries in the competition.

The winners were Accelign, Aid Networks and IMPACT Education.
