A letter from Van Jones to his supporters urges people to buy his book (or check it out from the library — so much greener) and join online groups including “I Stand With Van Jones and I Love Van Jones.” However, it turns out Jones is not quite as delusional as his supporters, like Arianna Huffington, who spun his resignation as a great victory for the environmental movement (“Thank You, Glenn Beck” was the Arianna headline if memory serves). Jones writes:
Of course, some supporters actually think I will be more effective on the “outside.” Maybe so. But those ideas always remind me of that old canard about Winston Churchill. After he lost a hard-fought election, a friend told him: “Winston, this really is just a blessing in disguise.” Churchill quipped: “Damned good disguise.” I can certainly relate to that sentiment right now. 🙂
A Churchill spouting, black nationalist, Marxist revolutionary who ends his sentences with emoticons. He is a man of contradictions — a riddle, wrapped in a mystery, inside a 9/11 Truth conspiracy. Update: Per Terzian:
Needless to say Van gets the Churchill anecdote wrong: It was his wife who said the loss was a blessing in disguise, and Churchill replied that it “seems to be most effectively disguised.”
