Chelsea Clinton rushed to the defense of Barron Trump Monday, after a columnist was called on him to “dress the part” of being first son.
“It’s high time the media & everyone leave Barron Trump alone & let him have the private childhood he deserves,” Clinton tweeted following The Daily Caller story’s publication.
The piece describes the attire 11-year-old Trump wore to accompany his parents home to Washington, D.C., after 17 days in Bedminister, N.J., as if he were going on “a trip to the movie theater” rather than deplaning from Air Force One.
Trump wore a red T-shirt, khaki shorts and suede loafers.
“The youngest Trump doesn’t have any responsibilities as the president’s son, but the least he could do is dress the part when he steps out in public,” contributor Ford Springer wrote.
Clinton grew up in the public eye, spending many of her formative years in the White House while her father, Bill Clinton, was president from 1992-2000.
Many chided Springer on social media, arguing that Trump was “off limits” to the press.
I, for one, am a fan of Barron’s fashion. He’s 11. He dresses like it. What the hell do you people want? https://t.co/T5iWHftOUX

No. Barron Trump should be off-limits. He’s 11 years old: who cares how he dresses? pic.twitter.com/CuJ1hD9ByF

Whatever your political views, I feel like everyone decent has some sympathy for Barron Trump. What a situation for an 11-year-old boy.
