Former first lady Barbara Bush shared a sweet update with her friends from Smith College in the latest edition of their alumnae magazine.
“I am still old and still in love with the man I married 72 years ago,” she wrote in the Class of 1947’s “Alumnae Lives Update” section of the publication, according to the Boston Globe.
Barbara Bush’s husband, George H. W. Bush, was president of the United States from 1989 to 1993.
The pair, who met at a dance when Barbara Bush was 16, married in 1945 while George H. W. Bush was on leave from his World War II deployment with the U.S. Navy.
Barbara Bush dropped out of Smith College in 1944, two weeks before her wedding.
She used her profile as first lady to advocate for universal literacy.
