Midterm results: Republican John James wins Michigan’s redrawn 10th District


After two failed Senate bids, Republican John James secured a ticket to Washington, D.C., by defeating Democrat Carl Marlinga in Michigan’s 10th Congressional District.

James beat Marlinga in the “likely Republican” district that narrowly voted for former President Donald Trump over President Joe Biden 49.8%-48.9% in 2020, covering the towns of Warren and Sterling Heights.

James, who was endorsed by Trump, will now look to make good on a promise of moving into the 10th District, something brought up multiple times during the campaign by his Democratic opponent.
