A Colorado woman who confronted Beto O’Rourke on his gun control plan is accusing the Democratic presidential candidate of exploiting tragedies to push his agenda.
Lauren Boebert appeared on Fox News on Saturday, saying she wanted to confront O’Rourke because the presidential candidate is using mass shootings as a political tool. Boebert owns the Shooter Grill restaurant in Rifle, Colorado, where waitstaff open carry as they serve.
Boebert attended a town hall for O’Rourke in Aurora, Colorado, on Friday, telling the former Texas representative, “Hell, no, you’re not” going to confiscate guns, playing off O’Rourke’s stated position of “hell, yes, we are going to take your AR-15.”
“Shame on him for coming to Colorado to expound upon our tragedies. Those are our victims, and he came here to paint a picture for his own campaign trail. Shame on you, sir, for doing that,” Boebert said on Fox News.
“We were here. We experienced those losses,” she added, referring to a 2012 mass shooting in Aurora that resulted in a dozen deaths. “There were criminals that did those horrible acts, and, by definition, those criminals do not obey the law, so there is no legislation you can pass that is going to stop the evil in a man’s heart.”
