Kevin Hart suffering from ‘major back injuries’ after serious car accident

Comedian Kevin Hart suffered “major back injuries” following a serious car accident in California late Saturday night.

According to TMZ, a Plymouth Barracuda belonging to Hart veered off the road on the Mulholland Highway in Malibu Hills, smashed through a wooden fence, and ended up in a ditch about 10 feet off the road. The roof of the vehicle was nearly crushed, and the fire department had to saw it off in order to free passengers.

Hart was reportedly not driving at the time. Police said he and the driver suffered “major back injuries” while a third person was uninjured. They added that the driver had not been drinking.

A member of Hart’s secutiry team picked him up from the scene and took him home for “medical attention.” He then went to a nearby hospital, and his condition remains unknown.

The driver was airlifted to UCLA Medical Center. His condition is also currently unknown.

Hart made headlines recently when stepped down from hosting the Academy Awards after his past homophobic tweets resurfaced. While he admitted he wouldn’t tell the jokes today, he initially refused to apologize for them. After stepping down from the Oscars gig, he finally apologized.
