Blaze displaces Chillum family

A morning fire displaced a Prince George’s County family on Saturday.

The blaze broke out at a single-family home on the 6600 block of 24th Avenue in Chillum at about 10 a.m., according to Prince George’s County fire and emergency services.

The residence sustained heavy damage and authorities said losses were still being tabulated.

The family of two adults and two children, ages 6 months and 3 years, escaped from the home without injury.

Firefighters and the Red Cross are helping the family obtain clothes, toys and personal items, a fire department spokesman said.
