A reporter shared the story of how she found out about her former boyfriend’s infidelity — with the help of a fitness tracker.
Earlier this month, NFL Network correspondent Jane Slater reacted to the recent Peleton advertisement that went viral by opening up about how another exercise tool led to her to discover her ex-boyfriend was cheating on her.
“An Ex Boyfriend once got me a Fitbit for Christmas. I loved it,” she tweeted. “We synched up, motivated each other… didn’t hate it until he was unaccounted for at 4am and his physical activity levels were spiking on the app.”
“Wish the story wasn’t real,” she added. “Spoiler alert: he was not enrolled in an OrangeTheory class at 4am.”

To make matters worse, she was in the midst of planning a birthday party for him and had even contemplated calling the police when she grew worried about his whereabouts.
“I was at his home w balloons ahead of the birthday I planned the next day,” she said, according to USA Today. “My girlfriend once said ‘one day we will laugh about this’ as I sobbed uncontrollably in the car. I have now many times bahahahah.”
Slater’s tale came in response to a viral ad from Peleton that was widely mocked for showing a man buying his significant other a fitness bike for Christmas. The company said it was “disappointed” by the criticism it received.
“We constantly hear from our members how their lives have been meaningfully and positively impacted after purchasing or being gifted a Peloton Bike or Tread, often in ways that surprise them,” a representative for the company said.
Following the ad’s airing, the brand went on to register in more Google search results that week than the current impeachment efforts against President Trump. Stock in the company, however, plummeted.
