VIDEO — Weekly Examiner: Obama’s plan to fight the Islamic State

President Obama started off his week with a trip to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta to figure out a plan to deal with the growing Ebola virus crisis in West Africa. After his briefing, Obama laid out his plan to battle the epidemic that has killed more than 2,400 people. The U.S. will be sending troops, healthcare kits, additional health workers and materials to build field hospitals.

Obama then traveled to Tampa, Fla., where he laid out his plan to combat the Islamic State. He called on Congress to authorize him to arm and train Syrian rebels.

By the end of the week — Congress had done just that. The House of Representatives on Wednesday passed legislation to authorize Obama to arm and train moderate Syrian rebels to help with the fight against the Islamic State and on Thursday, the Senate followed suit.
