Andrew Cuomo: Most gun owners support ‘reasonable’ gun control

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo said Monday that most gun owners support gun control to some extent.

“Most gun owners support some type of reasonable gun control,” Cuomo told CNN Monday morning. “There is a common-sense compromise if the NRA wasn’t always threatening politicians who went anywhere near reasonableness.”

Cuomo also said the National Rifle Association is “oblivious to the facts,” and is against any sort of “progress.”

The Democratic governor praised President Trump for speaking “reasonably” after the Parkland shooting earlier this year that claimed the lives of 17 at a high school in Florida.

He said Trump was correct in asking why America won’t raise the purchase age for assault weapons after the shooting, but chastised him for flip-flopping the next day when speaking to the NRA.

Cuomo claimed the NRA, the largest and most influential organization that advocates for gun rights, has done a disservice to gun-owners.

On Sunday, Chicago police reported that from Friday to Sunday afternoon, 59 people were shot in the city, five of which resulted in death, as gun violence continues to rise in the city.
