Man high on PCP kills 2, injures 1 in Prince William County crash

A man who was high on PCP killed two people and injured one in a fiery crash in Gainesville, Prince William County police said.

Police said Saturday that Carlos E. Lucas, 22, of Gainesville, was under the influence of PCP when he was driving north on Lee Highway near James Madison Highway at about 9:15 p.m. Friday. He was speeding and his Chevrolet Impala swerved into the median, then back onto the highway, where it hit a Honda Accord.

A passenger in the Accord, Meghan C. Jandrositz, 20, of Chantilly, was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene. Another passenger, David V. Richardson, 50, of Warrenton, was killed when the car caught on fire and he could not escape.

Passing motorists pulled the Accord’s driver, a 21-year-old Strasburg man whose name was not released, from the vehicle. He was flown to an area hospital with severe burns, police said.

Police said Lucas did not need medical attention. He was charged with driving under the influence and possession with intent to distribute PCP.
