Fox News host Tucker Carlson accused private companies of hypocrisy by benefiting off racial justice movements while adopting their slogans.
Carlson slammed private companies who adopt slogans from social justice movements as hypocritical, accusing Citibank of placing debt on poor black citizens they can’t afford.
“It is hard to know exactly who is responsible for these sad changes to America, but it’s very easy to see who is benefiting from them. They are the same people lecturing you about white privilege and systemic racism. This isn’t accidental,” Carlson said. “Citibank is happy to put Black Lives Matter logos on its Instagram page precisely so you won’t ask what interest rates they are charging black people. If you really cared about the poor, you wouldn’t crush them with debt they can’t afford.”
Carlson then asserted those who claim to care about black lives while supporting abortion clinics in minority communities are “scam artists.”
“Of course, if you really cared about black lives, you probably wouldn’t put abortion clinics in black neighborhoods, but they do. These people are scam artists. They are playing you.”
Earlier, the prime-time Fox host said the riots, which began after the death of 46-year-old black man George Floyd, are a result of economic problems in the country, claiming they are “class war[s] disguised as race war[s].”
“America’s core problems, in fact, are economic. Can your kids earn enough to form stable families of their own and live with dignity? Everything flows from that. And it’s what most Americans, of all colors, worry about most. So, of course, it is the one thing our leaders hate to talk about. That is not accidental. Again, it is by design. What you are watching is class war disguised as race war. ‘Keep the population at one another’s throats, angry, suspicious, tribal, and maybe they’ll never figure out how much we’re stealing!'”
Protests began in the city of Minneapolis last Tuesday over police brutality after footage of Floyd circulated on social media, at times erupting into violence. Floyd was pinned by the neck for approximately nine minutes until he became unresponsive. He was later pronounced dead at a hospital.
One officer, Derek Chauvin, was charged with third-degree murder and manslaughter, and an attorney for Floyd’s family says authorities informed him that criminal charges for the other three officers are forthcoming. All four officers involved were fired from their positions in the police department.
