Several airlines are looking to offer passengers waivers ahead of flying as AAA reports over 100 million people planning to travel this holiday season.
AAA said with 113 million people planning to travel at least 50 miles or more, 90% are looking to travel by car. The ones planning to travel by air have the option to receive a waiver to allow flight change fees to be waived if they cancel or change their flights from JetBlue, American Airlines, Delta, Southwest, and Alaska Airlines.
WINTER STORMS PELT NORTHEAST AHEAD OF CHRISTMAS, KNOCKING OUT POWER
United Airlines, headquartered in Chicago, is offering winter waivers for the Midwest, Texas, and East Coast. Brutally cold and forceful winds from the storm are expected to strike parts of Texas and the East Coast over the coming days.
Those who continue to keep their flights are advised to check with air carriers before leaving the house and arrive early, per AAA.
The storm, called Winter Storm Elliott, is expected to come armed with blizzard conditions, frigid weather, and heavy snowfall to parts of the Midwest, including Wisconsin, Illinois, Michigan, Indiana, and Ohio.
The National Weather Service said the storm hit the Pacific Northwest and northern Rockies sometime on Tuesday, landing in the Midwest on Thursday.
