A teenage waitress in Oklahoma was arrested after showing off photos of her new AK-47 to a coworker and telling her she was going to shoot up hundreds of people at her former high school.
Alexis Wilson, 18, was arrested at her home after authorities said she told a coworker at the pizza shop where she worked that she wanted to “shoot up 400 people for fun” at McAlester High School. She also allegedly showed a second person video of her firing the assault rifle.
Wilson had been expelled from the high school over violent incidents and was suspended at one point when she was found with a knife.
When deputies searched her home, they found the AK-47, six magazines, and a 12-gauge shotgun with a shot sleeve for extra shells. When confronted about the threat, deputies said Wilson told them “she would never shoot up a school” and that her coworker took what she said the wrong way, according to the McAlester News-Capital.
Pittsburg County Sheriff Chris Morris said that any threats of that matter would be taken seriously.
“In today’s times, you can’t say stuff like that. And anytime something is said, we are going to take it serious, and we are going to investigate it to the full extent and make an arrest if possible because we do not want any of our schools getting shot up,” Morris said.
“This is something we take very, very serious, and there was no time to sit and wait around,” he added.
A report said that Wilson told authorities she used to be suicidal and “borderline homicidal to the people of McAlester school because she was bullied.”
McAlester Public Schools Superintendent Randy Hughes said he has requested bolstered security at the school.
“We’re having school,” Hughes said. “We went through this last year when we had a threat and it’s the same thing — added security, extra police officers.”
The mugshot of Wilson released from the sheriff’s office showed her expressionless and wearing a black shirt that appeared to have “The Anarchist Cookbook” emblazoned on it. The Anarchist Cookbook is a controversial 1971 manual for civil disobedience that contains instructions on how to make explosives, illicit drugs, and weapons.
Wilson was arrested on a felony terrorist hoax charge and is being held in jail on $250,000 bond.
