Sen. Ted Cruz joined other prominent conservatives in slamming a Democratic activist for tweeting about potential Supreme Court nominee Amy Coney Barrett’s children.
“Dem operative’s opening salvo at Judge Barrett: attacking her young children,” the Texas Republican tweeted Friday in response to a tweet from political activist Dana Houle. “This is twisted. Leave the kids alone.”

Fellow Republican Sen. Josh Hawley also criticized Houle, telling his Twitter followers that this is the “gameplan” for Democrats opposed to Barrett’s nomination.
“Read this from Democrat activist & Hill staffer,” Hawley tweeted. “Questioning whether #AmyConeyBarrett *illegally* adopted her children from Haiti, maybe snatching them from birth parents! This is the Dem gameplan. Nothing but raw bigotry and hate. I promise you, this will not stand.”

“This is disgusting, @DanaHoule,” former acting Director of National Intelligence Richard Grenell added.

Trump is expected to nominate Barrett, who is a circuit judge of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 7th Circuit and a mother of seven (including two children adopted from Haiti), on Saturday evening to replace the late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg on the Supreme Court.
