Greene turns to Ethics Committee over posters defaced by Democratic staffer: Report

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) filed a complaint with the House Ethics Committee this week regarding a Democratic staffer in the House who was caught on video defacing posters outside her office claiming there are only two genders.

“Every representative should be secure in their person and property while on the Capitol grounds and in the various House office buildings,” Greene reportedly wrote in the letter. “Yet, over the last six months, Timothy Hysom — Chief-of-Staff for Representative Jake Auchincloss — has repeatedly defaced posters hanging outside of my congressional office.”

According to a police affidavit reportedly issued by the Superior Court of the District of Columbia, Hysom defaced Greene’s property several times between January and February of 2022.

Describing what occurred on one of the occasions, the affidavit says:

Officers on scene discovered a poster located in the hallway immediately outside the office House Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene had been defaced with a sticker that was approximately the size of an 8.5” x 11” piece of paper and read “Matthew 7:21-23 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles? Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’ The poster stated ‘There are Only Two Genders: Male and Female Trust the Science.'”

“Hysom used various derogatory comments to denigrate my sincerely held religious beliefs that there are only two genders made in the Image of God,” Greene explained.

“I am requesting that the Committee on Ethics immediately investigate the conduct of Mr. Hysom toward my office over the last 7 months. Every Member of this body deserves the same level of due process. Consistency and impartiality would compel you to investigate the matter merely on principle,” she concluded.

Prosecutors reportedly never moved forward with the affidavit for Hysom’s arrest.
