Arrest made in Upper Marlboro slaying

Prince George’s County Police have arrested a teenager in connection with a killing of a 42-year-old Clinton man.

Police charged 19-year-old Joseph Laval Wills, District Heights, with first-degree murder in the death of John Leonard Lawhorn Jr. A police spokesman said the motive of the case was “domestic related,” but did not know what the relationship was between to the two men and did not have any other information.

On Nov. 4, around 10:30 a.m., officers responded to the 7400 block of Marlboro Pike after a request to check on the welfare of a person there. When officers arrived, they discovered Lawhorn suffering from trauma to the body. Lawhorn, of the 10400 block of Inez Place, was pronounced dead on the scene.

Wills was being held on “no-bond” status.
