U.S. Attorney Ron Machen needs a deputy.
He’s thinking of offering the job to Vince Cohen, a veteran white collar defense lawyer who worked with Machen back in the day, according to a source close to Machen.
Machen and Cohen were hired by then-U.S. Attorney Eric Holder but spent most of their careers in private practice.
When Machen was mobilizing for the top prosecutor’s job, he turned to Cohen, who put together a PR blitz that helped Machen edge out D.C. native Channing Phillips.
Cohen didn’t respond to requests for comment. Machen’s spokesman declined comment.
