Anthony Weiner, the estranged husband of Hillary Clinton’s longtime confidante Huma Abedin, has checked into rehab to treat his sex addiction, the Daily Mail reported Wednesday.
The Daily Mail said the serial sexter is being treated at a facility that separates men and women and provides counseling for people struggling to control their interests in cybersex, exhibitionism, porn, and anonymous sex. Patients are not allowed to have electronic devices at the rehab center.
The former New York congressman has been under increasing scrutiny over the past week after the FBI announced it was reopening its investigation into Clinton’s private email server, after potentially related emails were found on his laptop during a separate investigation into the sexting messages he allegedly exchanged with an underage girl.
Abedin has said she has no idea how a laptop she claims belonged to her estranged husband Anthony Weiner could allegedly contain her emails.
Weiner and his wife announced their separation in August because of his repeated sexting, which first drew public attention in 2011 and the ensuing scandal led to him announcing his resignation from the U.S. House of Representatives. They share one son.
