Census participation in Washington area on par with national level

Residents across the Washington region were on par with or above the national level of participation in the 2010 U.S. Census.

The U.S. Census Bureau reported Thursday that across the country 74 percent of households participated in the census.

Here’s how it broke down locally:

D.C.: 72%

Virginia (overall): 78%

Arlington: 77%

Alexandria: 76%

Fairfax: 78%

Prince William: 77%

Loudoun: 80%

Maryland (overall): 76%

Montgomery: 80%

Prince George’s: 74%
