The Interior Secretary said he’s getting behind offshore wind projects in the Atlantic Ocean by expediting permits and identifying promising areas for wind power. Salazar said he’ll put in place a “smart permitting process” that cuts the time it takes to issue leases from seven or more years to two. Leases could be issued as soon as late next year.
