Donald Trump Jr. reportedly applied for a concealed gun permit in Pennsylvania.
The president’s eldest son, who is an avid hunter and outspoken supporter of gun rights, recently applied to carry a concealed weapon in Lackawanna County, Pa., according to sources who spoke to Page Six.
It remains unclear why Trump chose Pennsylvania, although Page Six sources speculated that he went outside of his home state of New York to avoid its financial disclosure laws. New York City Police Department guidelines say people may be required to provide a New York state tax return as part of the handgun-license application process.
The Pennsylvania permit is accepted in many states but not New York and lasts five years.
Trump Jr. has allegedly been pressuring his father to avoid introducing any gun control legislation that includes language banning assault weapons, an idea that has been tossed around on both sides of the aisle since last month’s deadly school shooting at a high school in Parkland, Fla.
